Seaweed cultivation ropes & twines

The standard length of rope on a coil would be 1.000 meters.
Upon request, we can alter it to any length that you prefer

Upon request and against extra charges, pre-stretching the rope is a possibility

the average breaking strength of the rope is 1806 daN

The braided LangmanRope for Direct Seeding is negatively buoyant and will therefore have a tendency to sink.  The specific weight is 1.38

We can do both.

1000mtr lengths we put on wooden spools.
coils we suggest maximum 300mtrs, otherwise hard to handle

We use a special polyester

Standard it is 14mm.
For pre-stretched ropes the diameter will be 12mm.

However based upon special requirements of clients (and only in case of larger quantities)
a deviation in diameter can be arranged.

Since the ropes have been manufactured by us for the seaweed industry and tested by Hortimare in open sea for 2 years now, there’s no scientific proof yet on the lifespan.

Currently, however we estimate that the ropes can be used and re-used for 5 to 6 years provided that the will be cleaned gently after the harvesting season. Life span may vary between users and locations. Hortimare will keep on testing year after year to come up with a proper dataset on the lifespan of the ropes.

Upon request of clients any deviation from standard amount of metres on a coil or spool can be delivered. Depending on the request extra charges may be applicable.

In order to manufacture this specific type of rope, that is meant to be used for Direct Seeding seaweed seedlings for seaweed cultivation, we do not use any spinning oils or other chemicals during the process. The large advantage of refraining to use chemical or spinning oils, is that our ropes do not have to be pre-washed to get rid of any toxic substances that might kill your seaweed seedlings. The amount of time that would be involved in pre-washing and drying your ropes can mount up to a lot of labour and waiting/drying time of the ropes. With our ropes you don’t have to perform this tedious task which will save you a lot of time and money and will allow you to start seeding right at the moment of the arrival of our ropes at your location.
